Today we will torture a mini PC on the Ryzen 5 4600H processor. We will examine the outside, look inside, and then conduct a stability and heating test. I wonder what this processor is capable of, which is declared as mobile. But in fact, it is not stuck in a mobile device, but in a small box that fits in the palm of your hand. At the same time, we will see how high-quality their products are.
And first, let’s look at the specifications. After all, we need to know what’s hidden inside the small box of Ninkear N4.
Characteristics
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 4600H (there are versions with AMD Ryzen 7 4800U)
RAM: 16 GB
Total SSD capacity: 512 GB
Video Card: AMD Radeon Graphics
OS: Windows 11 Pro
Memory type: DDR4
Number of processor cores: 6 (12 threads)
Video card type: Discrete
Interfaces and connectors: 3.5 mm, HDMI, RJ-45 Ethernet, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, USB Type-C
Appearance
The Ninkear N4 mini computer looks like a fairly compact PC. An aluminum case that will look appropriate anywhere. Of course, it can be hidden behind the monitor, but in my opinion, it is not worth doing this. Because it will make it difficult to access the connectors.
On the front panel there is a power button, a dark window behind which the Wi-Fi antenna is hidden and two USB 3.0 ports.
On the back side are all the main interfaces. Here we have a DC port (19W), HDMI port, 3.5mm aux jack, Gigabit network port, two USB A 3.0, another HDMI port and a Type-C port with video output support. A little higher is the radiator grille through which air comes out from the radiator.
On the sides there are two grids with grilles for air intake, which is then thrown out through the radiator in the rear part of the case.
There is just a plastic cover underneath, which is only for protection. Air does not enter through it, and theoretically this is correct, since dust will not accumulate on the surface of the table.
The manufacturer’s logo is located on the top of the mini PC. Neat, small, and not eye-catching
Overall, everything is done well, and quite beautifully. If this is applicable to such a device. And most importantly, there are enough ports. And the only question that arises is “how did they manage to fit all this into such a small case?”
And we will try to answer this too. But we need a screwdriver.
Disassembly and internal inspection
We take a screwdriver and start to disassemble the PC case. By the way, this is done very simply, even a child can handle it. Or a girl.
Inside, we are greeted by a very dense layout, in which there is room for everything that is necessary for a modern PC. But at the same time, there is even room for installing another SSD, and you can also install another bar of RAM, theoretically doubling the memory and adding the ability to work in two channels
For some reason, one 16GB strip is installed from the factory, although it would be more logical to install two 8GB strips. The strip itself is from the manufacturer Faspeed. DDR4 3200MHz
A certain XINCUU 512GB with an NGFF connector is installed as an SSD. It is really surprising to find such an unusual connector here. As for the speed of this SSD, we will see it later in the tests.
By the way, the board has another M2 connector, into which you can install an additional SSD.
Also installed here is a wireless module CDW-C9852BE-00, which is based on the Realtek RTL8852BE with support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0
If you turn the board over, you can see how the cooling system is implemented.
The TG08010H05LP brushless turbine fan is responsible for air exhaust.
Not a bad fan by the way. Blows great and is not noisy at all.
In order to remove all the heat from the processor, there is a fairly dense copper radiator here.
And the heat removal from the processor itself occurs through two copper heat pipes, which remove heat from the processor using a really huge copper plate.
As for the ports, you can see in the photo below what they look like and how they are arranged. A moment of technoprone.
In general, I can say that everything inside is organized quite well and quite smartly. It is worth noting separately that the hot part with the processor is on the opposite side from the part where the memory and RAM are located, which potentially delimits temperature zones. And excess heat does not go to the RAM and SSD.
Conclusion
Nowadays, mini PCs are becoming quite fashionable. There is no longer any need to buy huge boxes that are only needed to watch YouTube, read articles and edit documents or tables. A small box the size of a pack of napkins can perform most tasks of an undemanding user. At the same time, space will be saved on the table, nothing will make noise, nothing will interfere. And most importantly! Nothing will overheat or glitch. And all because now manufacturers know how to make high-quality cooling systems that easily cope even with hotter processors, while still being within the limits of compactness.
To sum it up, the Ryzen 5 4600H is great for basic tasks while being in the tiny body of the Ninkear N4 computer. And if you don’t need games, it’s a great option for home, multimedia, or for studying for students and schoolchildren.
