The company has now sent me an early review sample, and in the first part of the review you\u2019ll post photos of the devices and accessories, and perform a teardown to find out more about the electronics and thermal design. It\u2019s also quite larger than most recent Android TV boxes released to market<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"color: #2970a6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnx-software.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Zidoo-X9S-Large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-37504\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cnx-software.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Zidoo-X9S.jpg\" alt=\"Click to Enlarge\" width=\"640\" height=\"274\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">The front panel includes a VFD display and a window for the IR receiver, while one of the side features the SATA interface, one USB 3.0 port, and two USB 2.0 ports. The rear panel comes with two WiFi antenna connector, a Gigabit Ethernet port, HDMI input and output, AV (composite + audio stereo) jack, optical S\/PDIF, a firmware recovery pinhole, a micro SD slot, the power jack, a mechanical on\/off switch for power.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5vmoF7hRVAk?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #555555;\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Zidoo_X9S_Teardown\"><\/span>Zidoo X9S Teardown<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">You\u2019ll need to loosen the four screws on the bottom of the case in order to take out the metal bottom cover, which comes out very easily.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"color: #2970a6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnx-software.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Zidoo-X9S_Metal_Cover_Bottom_Large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-37513\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cnx-software.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Zidoo-X9S_Metal_Cover_Bottom.jpg\" alt=\"Click to Enlarge\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">There\u2019s no direct contact between the board and metal cover, but we\u2019ll notice a shield covering the processor, memory and storage chips.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"color: #2970a6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnx-software.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Zidoo-X9S-Teardown-Large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-37511\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cnx-software.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Zidoo-X9S-Teardown.jpg\" alt=\"Click to Enlarge\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">The shield is soldered to the board, so I have not attempted to remove it, and the bottom of the board reveals the micro SD slot, Genesis Logic GL852G 4-port USB hub, and\u00a0Titan Micro TM1628\u00a0LED Controller found on the small board used by the front panel display.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"color: #2970a6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnx-software.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Zidoo-X9S-Board-VFD-Display_Large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-37506\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cnx-software.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Zidoo-X9S-Board-VFD-Display.jpg\" alt=\"Click to Enlarge\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">After removing three more larger screws, I can access the top of the board named \u201cGPT X9S_1295_V1.0\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"color: #2970a6;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnx-software.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Zidoo-X9S-Board_Large.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-37515\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cnx-software.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Zidoo-X9S-Board.jpg\" alt=\"Click to Enlarge\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">Again there\u2019s a soldered shield on the top of main ICs, so we can\u2019t check out the SoC, RAM, and eMMC flash chips. But we\u2019ll find a battery for the RTC, Realtek RTL8821AU USB 2.0 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0 chip, and SG24002 10\/100\/1000M transformer for Gigabit Ethernet (GbE PHY and MAC are inside RTD1295 chip). The serial console \/ UART header appears to be located between the USB 3.0 and SATA ports. The latter should be a \u201ctrue\u201d SATA port since SATA is supported natively by\u00a0Realtek RTD1295 SoC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">Source:\u00a0<a
