Problem Description
Chain Falls Off, Unable to Ride
Solutions
Determine the Usage Time of the Chain and Sprocket
|
The chain and sprocket will eventually wear out and need to be replaced.
The longer the chain is in use, the more it will wear and stretch. If the chain is replaced before it wears excessively, the sprocket will not be damaged, but if the chain is not replaced in time, the sprocket will also wear and need to be replaced along with the chain.

Inspect the Chain and Align the Sprockets
|
Ensure the chain tension is appropriate, adjusting as necessary. When the chain tension is correct, there should be approximately 1/4 inch of play up and down. Check that the rear wheel sprocket is aligned correctly with the motor sprocket.
The rear wheel sprocket should point directly at the motor sprocket, and the chain should be centered on the sprocket rather than pulling to one side or the other. Be sure to use two wrenches to loosen and tighten the axle nut to avoid damaging the wheel. To adjust the rear wheel sprocket, slightly loosen the rear wheel axle bolt, then tap and pull the tire to adjust the wheel. After the wheel is correctly aligned and tensioned, continue tightening the axle bolt. The motor is usually not adjustable, so adjusting the rear wheel is the primary method for aligning the sprockets on most electric scooters.
If the chain starts falling off immediately after sprocket calibration or replacing the tire and inner tube, the rear sprocket may not be calibrated, or the axle washers may have been reinstalled in the incorrect order. First, try calibrating the rear wheel sprocket with the motor sprocket, and if that does not work, try rearranging the axle washers and recalibrate correctly.
