  • The PVS (Precision Voltage Shield) is an 8-channel, 12-bit analog-to-digital converter with an internal temperature sensor that plugs on top of an Arduino microcontroller. It is similar to the analog input pins on the Arduino UNO, but with 4 times better resolution and 8 channels instead of 6.The shield is based around the Analog Devices AD7298 data acquisition chip, which includes a successive approximation A/D converter, as well as input clamp protection and analog input filtering.
  • The AD7298 is a 12-bit, high speed, low power, 8-channel, successive approximation ADC with an internal temperature sensor. The part operates from a single 3.3V power supply and features throughput rates up to 1MSPS. The device contains a low noise, wide bandwidth track-and-hold amplifier that can handle input frequencies in excess of 70 MHz. The shield brings the AD7298's SPI interface out to pins 10-13 on its Arduino headers. The shield also provides additional chip select lines on pins 8, 9 and A3, and uses pins 2-5 for additional control signals. The shield use a level shift IC to adapt 3.3v and 5v SPI interface. The user can use J2 jumper to choose SPI interface voltage.
