The RG28XX is equipped with the same Allwinner H700 chipset and 1 GB of LPDDR4 RAM as recent RG35XX releases like the RG35XX 2024. Consequently, the RG28XX should be powerful enough to emulate up to Dreamcast games and less demanding PlayStation Portable titles. Moreover, the RG28XX contains a 2.83-inch IPS display that resolves at 640 x 480 pixels. A small display has been positioned between reasonably-sized game buttons, plus what appears to be the d-pad from its other smaller gaming handhelds. On top of that, the RG28XX has two pairs of shoulder buttons, two MicroSD card slots, and dedicated START/SELECT buttons. Wired and wireless controllers can be connected through its sole USB Type-C port.
Who is this device even for? This is a great complementary device to a collection if you need a small handheld to take on the go. The price is hard to beat and it would be a great addition to any retro handheld collection.
